MOVING TARGET

Production Ballet National de Marseille
On musics by Jean-Sébastien BACH, Jean-Paul DESSY, L. JADOT, Acid Kirk, Arvo PÄRT, Seal PHÜRIC, Alfred SCHNITTKE, Dmitri CHOSTAKOVITCH, Boyan VODENITCHAROV, Galina USTVOLSKAÏA.

With dancers of Ballet National de Marseille

Emblematic of the rapport between dance and architecture
following on from the initial collaboration of Frédéric Flamand with the New York architects Diller+Scofidio, the show “Moving Target“ draws its inspiration from Nijinsky’s uncensored Notebooks.

The texts by Vaslav Nijinsky used in the show are taken from the unedited version of the Cahiers (‘Notebooks’) published by Actes Sud and translated by Christian Dumais-Lvowski and Galina Pogojeva.

The set, with a mirror tilted at a 45-degree angle above the stage, reconfigures the space and ruptures our perspectivist vision by challenging and unsettling our passivity.

Concepter and choreographer : Frédéric FLAMAND

The choreographer transposes to a contemporary context the mythical passionate and tragic love story of two young people swept along by an overpowering destiny that brings them face to face with hatred and forces them to battle with social conventions… to the death.
